Construction Quality Supervision Management System

This project focused on building a construction quality supervision management system for refinery test and inspection workflows. The platform was designed to improve how field teams and administrators manage test processes, documentation, inspection records, and activity tracking in complex industrial environments.

The solution includes both a web-based management platform and a mobile application for Android, enabling users to create workflows, record test data, review inspection history, and continue operations even in unstable network conditions. The system was delivered under an Offshore Development Center model and has supported long-term operational improvement since December 2021.

Project Overview

Construction case study

The client (J*** – confidential) needed a system to digitalize and standardize quality supervision activities in refinery operations, where workflows were previously slowed down by legacy data structures and poor field connectivity. The new platform was designed to support role-based test execution, inspection assignment, historical traceability, and administrative monitoring across multiple users and stages.

Because refinery work often happens in environments with unreliable internet access, the system also needed strong offline support. This requirement shaped both the mobile experience and the overall technical design, ensuring that users could keep working without interruption and synchronize data once connectivity was restored.

The project belongs to the oil and gas domain and supports construction and refinery quality control processes. It was developed to help field workers, inspectors, and administrators manage operational workflows more efficiently while improving documentation quality and execution visibility.

  • Challenge 1: Legacy database constraints slowed performance

The project had to be built on top of an existing database system that contained unnecessary complexity and data constraints, which negatively affected query speed and overall performance.

  • Challenge 2: Unstable connectivity at refinery sites

Workers often experienced slow or interrupted connections at the refinery, making it difficult to complete tasks in real time and causing workflow delays.

The delivery team addressed both system performance and field usability through a combination of architecture improvements and workflow-oriented product design.

For performance optimization

  • Conducted performance testing to identify bottlenecks in the system
  • Simplified database structure and reduced unnecessary constraints
  • Added master data to reduce repeated retrieval of less frequently changing records
  • Integrated Elasticsearch to improve search speed and accessibility

For field continuity

  • Developed an offline mode for the mobile application
  • Allowed users to continue working even without internet access
  • Stored data locally and synchronized it with the main database once the connection returned
  • Improved continuity in workflow execution regardless of network quality
  • Workflow Management: Admins can create testing workflows with defined roles and actions
  • Test Creation: Workers generate tests with test details, documents, locations, and references
  • Role-Based Actions: Users perform actions depending on their step in the workflow
  • History Tracking: All actions are recorded in a history timeline for transparency
  • Inspector Evaluation: Workers rate inspectors after tests
  • Admin Monitoring: Admins track testing activity, top-performing companies, and inspector ratings
  • Offline Mode: Users continue working without internet and sync data later
